Listeners are speaking of faith
St. Peter's Church of Philadelphia hosts a weekly adult education group that focuses on Speaking of Faith.
"Our congregation is generally well-educated and intellectual," explains Reverend Claire Nevin-Field. "But we wanted something that moves discussions to a more personal understanding of spiritual faith."
University of North Carolina religious studies professor Celia Sinclair incorporated Speaking of Faith and its "people-side up" format into a recent course:
"Speaking of Faith doesn't get into who's wrong and who's right. It's not about finding out 'who I'm like.' It's about hearing, appreciating, and attempting to understand multiple perspectives."
